Victoria Theatre announces new lineup

Dayton is known as having a vibrant arts scene, particularly for a town of its size. Thanks to our history of manufacturing and invention, and the generosity of our wealthy industrialists who understood what arts and culture could contribute to a city, we have well-established arts venues, including the Dayton Philharmonic, the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company, the Dayton Ballet, the Dayton Art Museum, and multiple theater venues- all gems in their own right and opportunities to experience arts and culture that some bigger, newer cities do not have, or have recently lost.
One of the theater venues- The Victoria Theatre Association- just announced its 2012-13 season of live productions.
• “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas,” based on the classic film, Nov. 27-Dec. 2;
• “Shrek The Musical,” Jan. 15-27, 2013;
• “The Addams Family,” March 5-10, 2013;
• “Mary Poppins,” April 16-21, 2013;
• “Next to Normal” (produced by Dayton’s Human Race Theatre Company), May 7-19, 2013; and
• “Dreamgirls,” June 4-9, 2013.
The individual Star Attractions shows, which go on sale to series subscribers first, will include:
• An Evening With Branford Marsalis, Sept. 23;
• “Menopause: The Musical,” Oct. 12-14;
• “Green Day’s American Idiot,” March 12-14, 2013;
• The musical “Rock of Ages,” May 21-22, 2013.
